Merry Christmas

So the holiday season is now upon us. And I think as parents we want the best for our children. I was shopping yesterday and wondering - how much do we get our children? When is it too much? How does this transcribe to our children? What is the purpose, really, of giving gifts to our children?

When my oldest, who is 19 was little I did everything I could to make sure he had tons of presents to open. The older he got, the more I realized this was crazy and a greed fest! We didn't have the true meaning of Christmas anywhere in our house. Now I was only 21 when I had him, but still - that foundation was missing!

So last night as I went out Christmas shopping for my little people, the 14 year old, the 5 year old and twins that are 3 1/2, with my 19 year old at my side I was thinking - why do we do this? What is the religious meaning behind this? Luckily for my little ones they get the benefit on not having too much!

I would love to hear the feedback from moms, dads and anyone with some thoughts on this.

In the mean time - MERRY CHRISTMAS! Stay healthy - stay focused and find YOUR meaning of your Christmas.

Cancer Prevention

We all know from a science point of view no one really knows where cancer comes from. By why wouldn't we want to do what we can to prevent it? Why not, if you have it, would you not remove the possibilities of what irritates it out of your life? If cancer is one of the leading diseases that kills children - why not make a change? I think we all stop our kids from running in front of cars! Let's stop them from being exposed to chemicals.

Take a look - interesting information! You can also visit www.ahealthcafe.com/Alicia

Great article to read, too. www.healthychild.org/blog/comments/a_commonsense_approach_to_cancer_prevention

Multiples

Well everyday with twins offers a new challenge. Add a another child that is only 16 months older and you get many personalities that don't match!

I can remember about 14 years ago a very dear friend of mine had twins. I couldn't understand her "protectiveness" of them - after all it was only 1 more then I had. Why would you worry about splitting them up in school? Why would you worry about the other friends that one has and the other doesn't?

Well guess what? You do! I can't believe the guilt I feel - even with the older one (ok - the twins are 3 1/2 - the older one is 5 and our oldest don't count in this anxiety as they are 19 and 14) - Why is it fair that the 5 year old goes to the neighbors to play and the twins have to stay home? Well, I justify, she has her own friends and after all they get to play with each other - right?

Parental guilt - no matter what the age is amazing! Wholy cow.

Please share your stories with me - how do you handle these things? How do you not spend your time yelling- when alls one of them do is whine to get what they want?

Is it weird?

Dear Friends,

There are so many thoughts that I have and I want to share. I don't know where to begin!

Is it weird that I want to share my thoughts on how I feel so much anxiety that I am not raising my children with patience?

What I mean is this. I love my kids. They are by all accounts great kids. Kind, loving, cute -BUT why don't they listen to me? Why? Of course that is a rhetorical question - some days all I do is yell. The guilt I feel when I put my head down some nights is just crazy. When I only had one child and my mother was still alive she used to tell me that guilt was such a useless energy. Just do the best you can. So that is what I try to do. I start each day with "I am going to do better today then I did yesterday".

But you know what is funny? I thought I was the only one that felt this way, that reacted this way - but I am not. Some days the anxiety is overwhelming. Do I need medication? How does my best friend do it with 6 kids and working fulltime do it? So I am making a new commitment.

As some people know I have gone green in my life for about 11 years. But there is so much to doing things naturally through vitamins, exercise, taking all the cleaning chemicals out of my house and just talking about it - like now. So I am going to take the natural approach to lowering my anxiety. Instead of taking the medication that my doctor prescribed, I am going to try and take a natural vitamin. I would only do this through a reputable company - with a proven track record. And through conversation. So I will let you know how all that goes.

In the mean time - Is it weird I want to share with all of you what is working in my life. What isn't - and is it weird I want to hear back from all of you?

Well guess what - I don't care if it is weird, because I do want to hear from you - how did you get through situations that we all are experiencing? What are you going through? How do we stick together for support?

I am anxious to put this together and create conversation. I have reached a time in my life that you realize that there is so much we can bring to the table and we shouldn't be shy or worry about what others think!

Chow friends - talk with you soon, and please share!

A Healthier Eco-Friendly Life

I am so excited to bring to an exciting informational way to go green in your homes - while helping others. I want to help people - both health wise and financially, if they want.

It has been my passion for over 10 years to tell everyone what I know about cleaning products in your home and the unbelievable health products that will not only make you feel better but to truely bring to you a wealth of health!

With that said - I want you to ask yourself a couple of questions. If you walk down the isle of any of your local stores and you smell the cleaning products that are in a sealed container AND have a lid on it why is it so strong? Why does it give me headache or make me sneaze? I want to answer it by saying - IT HAS BAD CHEMICALS IN IT!

That is the truth. I will keep you posted and send links through out my blogging, but if you would like to know more on how to save money and get rid of the chemicals in your home - send me an email, I would love to tell you more!

Take care,
Alicia
